Who operates TaxCheck
TaxCheck is an independent project operated by Christopher McCabe. Questions about the tool can be sent to ChristopherMcCabe@outlook.com.
Core tax-check data
The checker asks for calculation inputs such as income, tax deducted, relationship/assessment status and selected expense or relief information. It does not require a PPS number, Revenue password, bank details or account registration.
Storage
By default, full TaxCheck answers are stored only in browser session storage so they can survive navigation in the same browser session. They are not intentionally sent to a TaxCheck server. If you explicitly select “Remember on this device”, a copy is stored in local browser storage until you clear it.
Revenue PDF importer
The importer reads the selected file in your browser and does not intentionally upload the PDF to TaxCheck. Because PDF encodings vary, extracted values must be confirmed against the document. Parsed/imported figures are held in the browser session for transfer into the checker.
PDF reports
TaxCheck reports are generated locally in the browser and downloaded to your device.
Technical errors
The release candidate records a short technical error log in browser session storage. Remote technical error reporting is disabled by default. If remote monitoring is enabled in a future production release, the privacy notice and implementation must be updated before collection begins and payloads must exclude tax-form values.
Cookies and analytics
This release does not require advertising or analytics cookies. If optional analytics are added, consent and transparency requirements must be assessed and implemented before collection begins.
External links
Links to Revenue and other external services are governed by those services’ own privacy policies.
Your controls
You can clear your TaxCheck answers from the checker. Closing the browser session clears session data according to the browser’s behaviour; remembered local data can be removed with “Clear my answers” or browser site-data controls.
Production GDPR information
Before a public launch that involves server-side processing or identifiable contact/account data, the final notice must set out the controller identity/contact details, purposes and lawful bases, recipients, retention, rights, complaint route and any international transfers that actually apply.
